Just wandering what kind of milage you guys are getting out of your rides?
I have a 2003 Expidition XLT city I get around 13.2 but highway I get around 13.8. Seems odd to me that highway is so poor. I have only had truck for about 4 mths so I don't know if this is normal or not?
4.6 L. All stock still.
168,000 miles

Well, the epa only rated it at 13 and 18 (14 combined) for the 2 wheel drive version and the 4x4 at 12 and 17 (13 combined). And that was when it was new.

I have one just like yours, 2003 XLT with the 4.6. Mine is 4x4, and I have 78,000 on it. I get anywhere from 13-16 mixed urban/highway driving. I have not made any mods to mine.

Just seems weird to me that it doesnt do better on highway milage, when I bought it it was getting 15.1, just return from highway trip, and has went as low as 12.2 now sits around 13.6 or so no matter how I drive it. BTW it is 4 wheel drive also.
Thanks for the replys I guess it is normalish...lol

When was your last tuneup? Air filter and throttle body cleans....could be time for new O2 sensors.

I just got back from a 400 mile trip to Nuevo Casas Grandes Chihuahua, Mexico. Our average speed for the trip ( Highway ) was 75 MPH ( Not KMH ) and we averaged 21.4 MPG ( Hand Calculated ) for the trip ( Highway and city driving ) the overhead display and the Edge both read an average of 21.9 MPG.

The Expy is a '02 EB 2wd with the 5.4 Heavy tow package and 3.55 LSD rear axle and the 30 gallon fuel tank. We left with a full tank and returned 3 days later with 38% of the tank remaining ( according to the Edge, Fuel gauge just a hair over 1/4 ).

Truck is NOT stock has rear cat delete, CAI, TB spacer, 2 into 1 70 series Flowmaster, and the Edge CS on power level 3 with custom options ( changed shift points 1-2= +3 2-3= +2 3-4= -5, shift firmness +15% on all, added 1.5 deg timing, WOT @ 1.3 ) this was with 90 Ocatane.

The Expy was also fully loaded carring 8 people, with all of the luggage straped on top of the factory roof rack.
