I'm not real happy with the mileage I'm getting from this 5.4L '06 Expedition. I bought it to take the family on a Disney World trip and I'm looking at about 3,500 miles round trip...

What kind of chips have you guys used and what kind of results have you gotten specific to mpg improvements?

All those $30 chips that you see on ebay are junk. So don't waste your time on that crap.

When I installed my edge programmer, I picked up 1 to 3 mpg. I never wanted to sit down and do the math, but I'm pretty sure that after 3 years the programmer still hadn't paid for itself. But then again, the main reason that I bought it wasn't for the mileage boost.

I think a couple of guys here have purchased the more 'eco-driven' style of programmer. perhaps they will chime in.

best bang for the buck is not a chip at all....... its a k n air filter.......... have not done it to the expy, but my honda got a noticable power boost; no more money spent on air filters; and a couple of mpg

I've been looking at it this morning. K&N doesn't make direct mpg claims but the anecdotal evidence seems to point toward about 1 mpg increase over stock paper filters. On this trip that 1 mpg will save me about $45 which, coincidently is exactly what the filter will cost...

I'm going to pick one up in the morning after I get done at the fire station and I'll let you guys know how it works out after we get back from Orlando!
