What would you guys recommend for a gas truck? I want to get 3 gauges and a pillar, was thinking of tranny temp, pyro, and af ratio. not sure how useful they will be on a nearly stock gasser though. also thought of getting volt, oil pressure, and water temp for more accuracy.

i have a volt meter where my key goes. on that side of the plastic piece. works good. as for the tri piler i would do tranny temp, vacuum, and water temp. or just get an edge. itll show you all of it as it happens. haha im just beating walnuts to it.

bajaexpy, the tranny temp I would consider a must. As for the others, depends on what you are looking at. If you have lots of lights, then a volt meter would be probably most beneficial as it would tell you when you are overloading the alternator (drop of the voltage to under 12.6 VDC). If you are worried about mileage, then a vacuum gauge or one of the "efficiency meters".

For a gas engine, the pyro isn't going to tell you a whole lot. If you were force aspiration, then it might be of a little concern to you. The big thing you need to ask is what are you worried about with the truck and therefore, what numbers do you need to see? once you answer that, the gauges will be easy to figure out.

+1 for an edge CS or CTS... performance gains + MPG gains and can monitor up to 8 different parameters at once...

I have just ordered a Edge CS programmer and everyone is telling me this is the way to go...http://www.edgeproducts.com The thing I really liked was no hard wiring, no messing around with the PCM with chips...plug and play....I just bought an overhead roof console that has rear heat & A/C controls...since I dont have either....Im going to custom mount my monitoring screen in that spot so at a glance I can look at it....

thats a cool idea but gonna be hard to hide the wire from the obd2 port too the edge... it isn't really that long... I wanna make a custom mount for it on my center console similar to my GPS mount...

I have my edge in the dash pod. I think that it would look good next to a single pillar pod with a trans temp gauge in it.

gauges

Thats a good location under the heat controls...the only thing with that is i would hate to be looking down with my blind ass even with glasses and runs up some one ass end....Ouch...If I can mount them up top then i can just glance up and still see half ass whats in front of me...as far as running the cable...I will look into extending it or moving the port....its just wire right? :hmm:
