I have a 2023 Limited Max and something is going on with my heated steering wheel. It comes on ok, auto on if it's cold outside, no issue. However, only 75% of the wheel gets warm, the section bottom right, on a clock from 3 to 6, does not heat up.
Any ideas ??
Thanks

I used forscan to increase the temperature a tad, not much because it can cause it to wear faster, but i've always noticed little patches on this don't get as warm as others. I have never cracked one open to see but something tells me there really only one heating element that makes its way around the whole wheel, I would think if the element died, pretty much the whole thing would be dead. Guess I could be wrong but when I've replaced the steering wheel, there's only one set of wires in there, so unless it's wired in parallel in wheel itself, pretty sure it's only one, even if its more than one, I would think it would be in series which again means total outage. But I could uber easily be wrong.

Mine only heats the top where my hands are. Not sure if this is normal, but the entire bottom is not heated, or at least I don't feel it.

That sounds like a warranty issue. Mine heats the entire steering wheel. Maybe a very small spot on the bottom doesn’t heat but the rest does. The Forscan stuff might allow you to change temperature (two setting), but would have nothing to do with half the steering not heating.

UPDATE : went to Dealer #1 (Dickinson TX), they said everything is normal. Dead spot is where the wires connect...??? Well, went to Dealer #2 (Alvin TX), this Tech noted resistance reading that clearly showed, based on outside temperatures, that the steering wheel was not heating normally and needed replacement. Took a week to get the wheel, was replaced, now working fine. BIG differences with Techs at these 2 dealerships.

How does the auto on work? I have not seen a setting for that. We have a 2023 Platinum with the big screen that is standard on the Platinum.

How did you do this with forscan? I tried in my 2022 with no luck.

Can someone tell me how the “automatic” part works? I have tried to figure it out and don’t find any settings for it to come on automatically. Ours is a loaded Platinum so I assumed it has that feartures

I have a loaded Platinum as well. As far as I know there is no automatic mode. I turned mine on and it has stayed on ever since.

In my vehicle, if you have the heated steering wheel turned on when you shut off the vehicle, it will be on when you start up next cycle. I don't believe it is tied to the "automatic" climate control.

On my 2018, if you remote start when it's cold (user manual probably says how cold), the heated steering wheel and heated seats are turned on. There might be a way to change what turns on automatically in this situation but I can't remember if I've ever changed it.

Like Meeker said. Same on my 24 SPP. And my steering wheel heats up all around 360 degrees.
Some Euro cars have actually an option where the steering wheel heat comes on or turns off automatically with the outside temperature.
