See if you have warm hoses going in, and coming out of heater cores. Also make sure blender doors are closing, the rods have a habit of misbehaving. Keep us posted with your findings.

I believe this is a correct coolant flow diagram. In theory the front and rear shouldn't affect each other because of the T's in the cooling lines.

Well if I was in your position, first thing I'd check is as stated check the hoses, then I'd see if the coolant system needs to be bled/burped. If both check out fine then I'd jump to the interior and attempt to see if the door actuator is engaging and finally if that too seems to be working, I'd start testing the switch and clean the area of contact. After all that I'd chase after the heater core for any type of evidence that it has actually failed, and if After that also checks out then I'd be stumped and clueless.

Oh also a stuck open thermostat kinda hinders the interior heat espically when rpms are up (while driving)

Out of curiosity have you drained any coolant to see if you have alot of crap in the cooling system? Could be plugged, then the rear went a bit later. I know the PO of this truck let his go so long the radiator plugged up.

As others have said....if your heater hose inlet is hot but the outlet is cold, you have blockage. You could pull your hoses at the firewall and back flush the heater core which dislodges debris.

If both hoses are hot, most likely your blend door is busted. The door has weak hinges and just kind of flops back and forth or will stay stuck in one position.

The hot water flow is constant in our Expeditions, there isn't a stuck shut off valve. You could pull the thermostat...but most likely it's the door.

I wish you the easiest fix!

again, it's always the last thing you check... and there's your problem.

Symptom: no heat.

Solution: after you believe the hot/cold blend door is not working, and you remove the front seats, pull back the carpet, separate the floor vent from the dash to the under-seat plenum, dislodge and remove the blend door motor, check the motor, and it seems to be working but wants to go back and forth in its travel... reinstall the motor, scratch your head, THEN pull off the knob that rotates the hot-to-cold blend on the a/c control panel... you discover that the part of the knob that fits on the shaft of the control is slightly cracked so that it does not grab the shaft fully... you then say (fill in the blank with your favorite magic word), switch the knob with the one next to it... then find that the blend works perfectly well. oh yeah, then you put it all back together and enjoy blending your cold and hot resources to find the "sweet spot".

Moral- always, and I mean ALWAYS, check things from simplest to most complicated in your troubleshooting adventures!

That's why I say what was the cure for one persons problem isn't always the cure for the next person with the same problem.

But its almost impossible to get other people to think that way They want a quick fix and don't want to troubleshoot the problem.

If he found the broken knob in the early part of this thread, we wouldn't have anything to talk about. Merry Moosemas to all, and to all a warm, heater working night!

most readers would rather someone use the search function instead of start a new thread on something already covered. thanks.

True but not true '

you may think you have the same exact symptoms and maybe you do However the OP in this thread has a 1st gen expy you have a 2nd gen expy

As a member here I would rather see another member start a new thread explaining what the problem is rather than see someone state I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM as so and so.
Now I have to take the time and read the OP's problem and see what was suggested etc

Think of it this way You and a friend go to the doctor your 21 and he is 65 and you tell the doctor you both have the same symptoms Now the doctor checks you both out but he prescribes different treatment and You wonder why

Plus when I come on and see a post like yours I tend to avoid it since you didn't bother to explain YOUR problem You let someone else explain it for you Plus you gave no information as to your year or model which is different than the OP's in this thread

Go back and read post #10 in this thread in which the OP explains what the fix for his problem was

Being you have the same exact problem I would say that you will find that his fix will be your fix

Hope you understand my point

The fact that I worked on the same type of motorcycle week after week made diagnosis of symptoms so much easier. Problem was I worked on all makes and models. With our suvs, every year has its own quirks. The only reason I was suggesting a new thread, is the original poster is long gone. We seem to have a high turnover rate on our forum, sort of like kids at fast food places. Sometimes it's good to start fresh. Moose.
