Ok, so I just drove back an hour from a farmer I visited - the guy's "brother" posted 4 mags and tires for sale on Kijiji, which he claimed to be from a 2014 "more or less" F-150. Asking price was about $200 USD. Not bad at all, plus I'm no expert at mag generations and the style looked good. All 4 center caps were included.

When I got there, I immediately noticed that the mags seemed old, but still in okay shape. They were pretty dirty and it was dark outside, so I couldn't see much detail. The tires looked to have some thread left and the guy told me they "should be good for one more summer". The tires are BFGoodrich RuggedTrails.

When I got home and inspected them under light, I immediately saw weathering and tiny cracks all around where the sidewall meets the rim and in between the threads. The mags production code is November 2003, not anywhere near 2014 he claimed in the ad... but whatever, as long as they look decent and hold air I'm okay for $200. Then I went to verify the DOT date code on the tires and couldn't make heads or tails of it: It's DOT APU9AU21

So I wonder... are these tires from 1999 or prior?

Also, will there be any issues putting modern TPMS sensor valves on those 2003-2004 mags? I assume these either don't have them or they are long shot...

Thanks in advance.

You are only giving the abbreviated DOT code.
Check the opposite side wall and you should have the full DOT code the full DOT code is 10-12 digits.

Looks like the full code is on the outside side wall there under Goodrich.
When I zoom in it gets to fuzzy to read.
The last 4 digits will be the date code.

The first 2 digits are the week made the second 2 digits are the year made.

Well, looks like you were right on the money! The DOT number is longer on the other side. I didn't even notice at first.

I checked two of them. Turns out it's weeks 48 and 49 of 2010.
