I don't wanna pay the crazy price from the dealership for a new key and key fob and for them to program everything. Can anyone point me in the direction to get a replacement key and key fob for cheaper than the dealership and is there a way to program it myself?

Yea that's what the dealer said about the key and yes it was one of the two original keys and now we only have one. What about the key fob?

Find a mobile locksmith. We had to do that before. He was able to program the keys.

gotta be somehow towed there

Not sure how this would help? She isn't stuck somewhere without keys. I still have my key to it and i usually drive it but i still want her to have her own key for if she needs to drive it. I'm not giving her mine which is now the only key. This isn't even the first time she has done this. She lost her key to our old truck too.

A new key must be dealer programmed a fob can be self programmed, however you can get both cheap on eBay then have a dealer/ locksmith program it

Ace Hardware

Just had a second key made/programmed for $75 at Ace Hardware. Simply had to provide our existing key to them for 5 minutes. Tested to work perfectly except for a strange split-second turnover delay when turned directly to start.

That's the same price Ford wants for the key and to program it. Twenty five for key and fifty to program. Then they want another sixty for the key fob and will program it for free cause they said it doesn't have to be hooked to a computer to do it.

If they didn't have a computer to reprogram the actual truck and the Pats system then you have two matching keys but you can't add to the system now you can only use the keys you have

What ace did was basically copy the info off of the chip on the key you already had to the other key

To add to my previous reply if your wife ever loses the keys again you're going to be out another 75 bucks instead of just being able to buy a $10 key off eBay and programming yourself

My 04 came to me with a single key. In order to program an additional key that the truck recognized as different from the other (maybe for 1 and 2 seat/mirror programs?), it would have to be dealer. But if I didn't care about that, they could clone my key for $59. I had two made, which saved 10% on each key, so I had a hide-a-key as well. Had two done for my wife's subaru (also a chipped key) and the keys look identical. Same top, different bottom.
