Hey Guys really need some help. I just went to the bank to grab money to pay the plumber to replace my hot water heater that just sprung a leak on me on Friday and the car started up fine i pulled into driveway and turned of the truck. loaded up the kids and went to start the truck and it it would not start then I turned the key and held it in the on position and and it started up. so to be safe I turned it to try it again but now it will not turnover at all! the lights turn on, windows work and head lights work, bu I did notice that when the key is turned in the on position none of the dashboard lights light up at all. Really need some help I just borught this car to replace my other car that broke down on me so I have no vehicle now and no way to get to work or get my 4 kids around.

Do the lights dim when you are trying to start it?

If no then:
Check all your fuses
Try moving the gear shift a bit while you have the key in the "start" position.
Also try putting it in neutral and see if it cranks.

If yes:
Then try the tried and true, banging on the starter with a hammer
If the hammer trick works, it means that you need a new starter, asap.

Thanks for your response man! You were part right a fuse was blown. I found the true issue! Turns out the guy I bought the car from had a wire that was running directly to the Starter silanoid and that wire was touching the body and shorted out and blew a fuse. so after I replaced the fuse and spliced and tied the wire back together the truck started right up! taking it back tothe shop I bought it from tomorrow so they can fix the issue correctly.
