Hey all,

I'm replacing the radiator on my 1999 Ford Expedition 4WD 4.6L. I stupidly forgot to take any photos before I removed the old one, now I'm trying to figure out how to properly install the new one.

I've got the upper hose and lower hose (both new) connected, I've got the reservoir hose connected.

Along the side with the reservoir, there are two metal threaded outlets which came with plugs in them. For the life of me, I don't remember removing anything from that area, and I can find no hoses that would connect there. They came with plastic plugs in them (the bottom one is so loose it won't even stay in place, the top one is ok).

Any idea what these are for?

In the photo linked below, they are the metal fittings on the left side near the top and bottom, one just above the lower hose and one just below the reservoir hose.

What are these for? Help!

Transmission cooler lines. Lines should be isolated from the engine coolant so if they are not used in your application is should not be a problem.

Thanks.

Do they need to be plugged, or is it ok to leave them open (as the plug in the bottom one just falls out anyway)?

It should be isolated from the coolant lines so it would be ok to leave them open.

Plugging them with the appropriate size npt plug would keep the weather and critters out if you ever think you may end up using it. (trans cooler portion)
