I have been ripping into the rear AC, first i found a bad actuator and i will be replacing that, however now i am looking at a hot air or warm air situation. Research tells me that the expansion valve is probably bad but i wanted to ask here before calling a mechanic. In the picture attached the arrow shows the tube that is getting cold, cold enough to create moisture on it. I know very little about AC so any input is helpful.

This is a 2003 Eddie Bauer model expedition

Do you have a dog? If so, you may have a stopped up/blocked evaporator in the rear. Not flowing enough air to exchange heat to cool air across coil.

If the rear looks that bad, probably have some of the same in the front. After you brush it out & vacuum, Lysol it & make sure it drains well. You can save yourself a lot of $$$
