Okay...one more questions for all of you experienced Expedition owners!

My Expedition was purchased used and came with only one key that has the keyfob built into it. The owner's manual says you need to take the car to the dealer to program a new key unless you have two keys. If you have two keys, you can program it yourself.

Well, I only have one key. My question is this true or is there a way I can purchase another key/keyfob on Ebay and program it myself?

How about if I only decide to purchase another key and not the keyfob type key? Can I take it to ACE Hardware and have the second key programmed???

Thanks everyone!

You do have to take it to the Dealer to get the second key programed ( unfortunatley :( ) They will have to hook it to the computer and go into the actual PATS security file and manually add the second key to the security module.

Once you have two keys that are programmed then you can program another buy using the two keys that are already stored in the computer ( insert key one turn on the off, insert key two turn on and off, then the new key on and off )

They do this so that theives can not use lock smith tools to cut a key and then program it. It is a pain if you only have 1 key but it is a good security feature.

You should be able to get a chipped key without the fob ( cheaper ) but it will still have to go thru the above procedure.

I wonder if it would be any cheaper if I brought my own key to the dealer, that has been cut, but not programmed?

Guess what.....my local ACE Hardware can do it for far less than the dealer! You have to use their keys so they work with their ECM programmer!

Kewl!

if u have triple a road service.....you call them. they will replace key.they will send lock smith out to location(home).

they will pay first $100....you will have 2 pay probable $50 cause AAA only covers 1st $100.....

you need triple a "plus".

Key

Guys

I have a 2007 that has both a key and a fob. Can I get a key with them both together? My fob has the Lock/Unlock buttons, Panic, Open Liftgate and Glass.

Is that possible at all?

Thanks!
