I added an HID kits to the truck this weekend but my high beams seams dim.

I have 6000k bulbs in both high and low spots with 35w ballasts controlling them. Should the highs have been setup with 55w ballasts?

Factory HIDs are only 35w, so no, the 55w is not necessary. You're putting HID bulbs in reflector housings for which they were not intended so it's a crapshoot whether the light ends up where you want it or not. The other issue is that none of the quick-fix HID bulbs are any good to begin with so you may just need to try a different bulb.

That's not how light refraction works. The reflector housing doesn't direct the light in a different place based on the amount of light being projected from a bulb. So it's not really a crapshoot.

Thanks for confirming the wattage is most likely not wrong though.
