again i say, there are very knowledgeable people on bitog. more than here. are all of them in that class? helz no...

Yeah, BITOG is, generally, well-respected among automotive forums, so I'm not sure where the previous poster got the idea that they're the "laughing stock of automobile related websites." There tend to be a lot more posts based on data than you'll find elsewhere. For example, instead of someone just saying "Oil X can run for 10K miles because I did it and my engine didn't blow up." many users will post the actual oil analysis done at 10K to back up their claims.

who the eff said anything about all day?

learn to read.... i said the enemy isn't the oil, it's the sluff from clutch material contaminating the oil- and it should be replaced immediately. however, 240 isn't a big deal anymore for short periods of time and as long as it's allowed to circulate and cool before it stops pumping through.
First Mercon LV (recommend for 6R80 transmission) is a semi-synthetic. It is definitely good for HIGHER CONTINUOUS OPERATING TEMPERATURE than Mercon V. Any document that references them BOTH in the context of the same operating temperature is distributing bad information.

Fluid temp and friction material go hand in hand. Too high oil temp and you will have friction material wear. Sadly that transmission does not have a dipstick for simple oil level/inspection check.

This is a great piece if info since I got mine used. Thane for posting it.
Mike you are welcome. I think there are other places online where you can just download the owner's manual by searching for 20XX Expedition Owner's Manual PDF and you can find it that way too.

You can buy a genuine Ford transmission cooler on eBay for about $100-$125. There are several other pipes, hoses and clips required.
