Hole (covered) next to shifter? edit: fixed/got it/thanks.

2011 Exped. Need to move it while not started. There's a little cap and hole next to the shifter on the right side of it. I removed the cap with a small screwdriver but there is nothing down there to push on to disengage the transmission. That's how I recall it working in other vehicles.

Page 211 of the owners manual (online, can't find my hard copy), says to remove bezel and stuff and find the button down under the console. (see img).

If THAT'S how I'm supposed to do it, what's the small rectangular (covered) hole for next to the shifter?

In recent news, I figured it out. I still don't understand why the manual describes a process that is unnecessary and does not show the hole...
