Searched around here for a while to no avail...

I have an extra key/fob, but need to program the remote to the car, I'm wondering where I can find the sequence/procedure to do this?

Also, I'm wondering how to make use of the number pad on the driver's door - i.e. is there a way to find out the secret number, or to program in a new secret number?

to prog the fobs turn the key off and on quickly 8 itmes ending with key on, the locks should cycle then push a button on each fob[ locks should cycle] when you have done all the fobs shut off the key. the keypad code from the factory is sometimes on the GEM module on top of the fusebox under the dash[ not easy to see] sometimes it may be on the hatch or a door jam also. you might ck you owners manual maybe someone wrote it down it will be 5 digits.

You're awesome Caro! I'mm gonna go try programming the fob in a minute.

On my '01 I found the 5-digit code under the dash - waaay up there looking from down by the pedals. Printed on a label on a light colored box - the largest #'s on the label.

Thanks!!! And it's here for posterity...

Edit: programming the fob worked exactly as described above. :)

I have a 98 EXPY and I bought 4 key fobs for it and programmed them all. My 2000 came with just one fob. Last night I programmed one of the fobs for the 98 to the 2000. Then I discovered that it still works both trucks now. I thought that was amusing.

To program your own code:
1. Enter factory set code (keypad will illuminate when pressed).
2. Press 1/2 control within five
seconds of step 1.
3. Enter your personal 5 digit code.
Enter each digit within five seconds
of previous one.
Do not set a code that includes five
of the same number or presents
them in sequential order. Thieves
can easily figure out these types of codes.
Your personal code does not replace the permanent code that the
dealership gave you. You can use either code to unlock your vehicle. If a
second personal code is entered, the module will erase it in favor of the
new code.
