How to change air filter in a 2001 expedition

Im having trouble getting the air filter off in my expedition. Its a 2001 Xlt. When i take the metal bracing off and split the round barrel case apart, its like i have no room to fully get it out. and im supposed to detach something else so i can fully remove the air filter? pictures would be appreciated.

You kinnda have to push the engine side of the barrel (the half not attached to the fender), and kinnda slide it downwards. Then pull out the filter.

yeah, its a PITA but you just gotta manhandle the filter box a little bit to pull it upright. then you can pull the filter out and get the new one in.
