Down and back to Indy yesterday averaged about 16 MPG. Set the cruise for 77 on the way down (75 MPH actual) and drove a good portion of the way back at 85 (82 MPH actual) Traffic was flying out of Indy and I just rolled with it. In the last two days I've put 300 miles on the truck which more than I put on it in the last month. :)

I avg about 5 miles a day. If I just commute to work, a tank of gas can last for several months.

I'm semi retired and work from home for the most part. I am an adjunct instructor for Harrison College and I now teach only online. My wife has about 6 mile commute back and forth to work. She fills up about once a month. We get gas points from Kroger and usually get a dollar off per gallon so we fill hers and top mine off. We are allowed up to 35 gallons at a dollar off so that really helps out.

When I drive on the highway, I want to get where I am going ACAP. Most drivers go at least 5mph over. There is nothing worse than coming up behind some jackwagon, going 57mph in a 65. It is dangerous and illegal to impede traffic. Slowing down to save gas(hypermiling), waste time. Time is more important the a couple bucks in gas.
Find me a law in muddy beans state that specifically states it is illegal to drive 5 under bro. I think you have a lead foot and are the type of person responsible for countless highway accidents and fatalities due to your inability to deal with people not driving as fast as you. Hope you don't have children in your vehicle when trying to "get where you are going ACAP (whatever that means)". There's nothing worse than driving like a normal person and seeing people like @rjdelp7 driving like a fu***ng moron doing 15 over swerving everywhere and cutting people off

Doing the speed limit is having a lead foot? Come on loser, swerving around some jack wagon, going too slow isn't dangerous? Stay off the highway, if you can't or will not keep up with traffic. Its a rule of the road.

Based on the context in the sentence, ACAP could mean the following:
  • As Crazy As Possible
  • As Calm As Possible
  • As Cooked As Possible
  • As Cool As Possible
  • As Chunky As Possible
  • And Cause Accidents Probably
  • Awfully Choked, Awesome Person
Real clever, how long did you spend thinking up all that? I bet it took all day...

All I'm going to contribute to this is that LEGALLY the speed limit is the LIMIT. the fastest you are legally permitted to drive on the public roadway. You do not have to drive at that speed, it is not the "Minimum Speed" or the signs would say so.

Rules are meant to be broken, laws are not. Show me the law, guy

Damn, I have watched from the saddle of a bike, police positioning their police cars as a roadblock in my honor, I have also been honored to meet constables from several of our wonderful states, one who just wanted to tell me how he admired the way my SLK sliced through WV's beautiful mountain roads....and oh, here's a $247 note of appreciation. He actually reduced the speed a ton because he didn't want to take a nice guy like me to jail and he would have had to for 136mph but he did say he was impressed we held this for 10 or 12 miles as he followed me. Speed has always been my kryptonite....ask a drug addict about drugs and he'll know.....I know my Expy does over 105......LMAO....ok, but I just had to let it stretch a bit.....see?

Ask the speed guy about speed laws.....yeah, we all say stuff that we wish we could take back....I suspect such is the case with the statement you guys are alluding to by the author you are talking about but don't be too mean.

We all have valid opinions, even if our facts are a bit sketchy at best<LOL>....in other words.....I'm highly entertained by his utterances so please don't screw it up!!

jeff

FWIW--- my lawyer son tells me that any officer of the law can invoke incidental reasons that affect SAFE speed.....so it's intentionally left arbitrary....but nearly every single State law says minimum is w/i 20mph of safe max speed.

Round trip from Montgomery Alabama to Roanoke, Va in Easter weekend traffic at 78mph when I could/ 0 sitting in stopped hwy traffic when I couldn't using 87 octane netted 17.8mpg via the trip computer. I am impressed.

I know I get annoyed with those that don't know the left lane is for passing not cruising. It's getting so 18 wheelers have started hanging out there as well. Pass get back over would go along way towards better road manners. I'm not sure if it's ignorance or selfishness for those that never move back out of the passing lane with others behind them waiting to pass or having to pass them on the right side.

Dallas to Lawton, OK this weekend running between 75-80mph netted me 18.7mpgs. I’m tuned and running 93 octane. I’m plenty happy with those numbers
