In my state, any roof mounted lights have to be covered while on the road. I'd like to be able to put some lights up there and not have to stop and get out to remove covers to use them. Are there any offroader tricks for this?

Some of the desert trucks used to use fold down light bars to cut down on wind resistance during the day, but I don't think that's the answer that you're looking for. I assume that you want to show those lights off during the day.

I guess that going with the blacked out lights mentioned above may fool the cops.

How often do you really use all of those lights?

If i were you i would prob want the covers on because they wouldnt get all scratched up from road debris so really having covers would keep them nice but Tonydiv does have a point, how often do you use them. On the topics of lights, what do you guys recommend for lights good for snow. I live in Wisconsin so i was thinking of getting a 4 pack of lights for the top rack for bad snow storms and what not. I am also a poor college kid so i am looking for something not to expensive but not some cheap light that will last one season. Any ideas? Btw, CanadianExpy, you prob need your lights cuz Canada only has like one road :p Just kidding. I couldn't help my self.

light covers? huh? :smokin:

i dont run them. no problems. but if i ever did i always have an excuse. my "parents" live out deep in jamul, a rural part of SD, and i need them to see cause of my poor night vision.

but i still have the covers under my 2nd row just in case. but ive never even been asked by cops about the ones in my grill. i would put some light grills over them just to make them look legal. what lights are you running?

My work often puts me out in very rural areas at night. Thats what the lights are for. I can't just stop in the middle of the road when I discover that the driveway I have to go down is long, dark and tree covered on both sides.

Currently, I sometimes have to hang a flashlight out the window to see anything my headlights don't pick up.

Right now I don't have anything. That's why I'm asking first in case there is an answer that requires a specific light.

I've got a push bar that I am going to be adding. I plan to mount some lights on that, but they will be below the centerline of the headlights.

behind the grill and its right at the line. and get some KC daylighters and light grills for them. not only do they protect the glass they also make them look "legal".

What watt lights have reasonable projection in rainy or snow conditions. I am looking for amber lights because I hear they work the best in snow. Correct me if I am wrong because I really don't know where to start. Like I said, I am looking for better light projected forward for rain and snow. Mainly for snow.

well... snow and rain is hard. cause its hard to see threw all that. but amber is the "best" choice. i have a set of harbor fright fog light amber on the back of my expy. i use them for dust lights so other trucks can see me when im in the dirt. but they work pretty damn well in the fog. i could see very far behind me. they are cheap. cheaply made but hey they work pretty good. i got them on sale for $10.
