What should the temperature of the IAT sensor be that goes into the intake?

Mine is reading at 100 degrees Fahrenheit and I have read that it should be exact or close to your coolant temperature...

My coolant reads at 190 degrees Fahrenheit and that's a good ways off from the IAT temp.

I am pulling trouble code P0113 (IAT Sensor Circuit High Input) from my scanner and I have disconnected, reconnected, cleaned, and just about everything else to the sensor as well as reset the battery... still no luck!

I cleaned the MAF sensor too while I was at it, any ideas?

The IAT sensor is brand new too... So I know it's not that.

The IAT should not be any where close to the temp of the engine coolant. The closer to ambient the better. That's guy with blowers and turbos run intercoolers. Is it reading 100 degrees steady or does it change?

I can read my IAT on my Edge Programmmer and it is usually right around what the outside temp is- it will go up slightly sitting in traffic on warmer days

It's 100 degrees constant, doesn't change.

Then something is up with your IAT circuit. It should change as the engine warms up and whether you're sitting still or moving. Is your MAF a 4 or 6 pin plug?

I believe the intake air temperature on the 1st gen expys are mounted near the air filter. It should be very close to ambiant temps outside.

Blower or turbo cars run it after the blower/intercooler to get accurate reading of air temps after being compressed.

What is interesting is according to my stock tune 100 is default temperature value should the IAT fail.

That's why I was asking if the MAF is a 4 or 6 pin. I wasn't sure if Ford made the IAT sensor part of the MAF like the Mustangs.

at night im right around 75-85. during the day, on hotter days, it can go up to 120. and my collant is at 206 steady. no higher. so 100 isnt bad. test it on a cool night.

That was my other thought. Since it's staying right at 100 then it's defaulting somehow and not actually reading the sensor.

IIRC, that has a 5 volt reference voltage? Check wiring closely, plugs, etc. Try wiggling the wire while keeping an eye on the readout.

After unplugging the IAT sensor and the battery over night, this morning everything checks out OK and the sensor is reading close to 76 degrees during the day.

Seems like everything is back to normal, thanks guys.
