My 2002 EB 2WD 5.4 just arrived in germany. Went to registration to pick it up, had to do a preliminary tech inspection. Failed on several things, but the Idler Arm is whats confusing me.
The guy showed me where the top bushing is, there is alot of play. Like you can wiggle it up and down about 1/4-1/2". He said the bushing is worn out.
I searched on several forums, and saw a few people say that Ford allows a good bit of play from the factory......is this normal?
Should I replace the bushing (if I can), or do i have to replace the whole Idler arm?............or is there a way to shim that area around the bushing up, to remove the play?
Any help is greatly appreciated, as I have 30 days to correct this problem before they deadline it and tag my temp tags.
