So I pulled the STC programmer of my truck to do a little experimenting and see if i could squeeze some MPG's out of this 5.4L pig. I just installed it last night and the wife drove it to work this morning so i don't have much to report on it right now except my F250 6.0L is now a dog without the tuner. If these tests work out to giving her a few more miles to the gallon i will be purchasing a second one for her vehicle. I did notice that it takes much longer to pull the stock file from the vehicle and write the new file when compared to my Diesel.
I didn't go crazy with any of the spark adjustments, shift firmness, EGR Disable or any of that yet. She said she didn't notice much but i only tuned it for 91 octane as that is all that's in it.

Ill report back when I get some hard numbers.

This is gonna be a long two weeks with the F250 being down 120 hp. :nono:

Yeah thats rough, its pretty bad when you get used to a powerful engine then have to go back to the less powerful one. I LOVE driving my moms suburban because it has so much more horse power than my 03 5.4L has.

On the 89 Octane tune her vehicle got exactly the same mileage. So the SCT will be going back on the diesel and we will not be purchasing another one. :blah:

Yes the SCT has canned tunes on it for a range of Ford vehicles. The model 3015 has canned tunes on it for both the Expy and the F250. I also have custom tunes on it for the F250 but it can only be married to one vehicle at a time.

Yeah you cant compare canned tunes though. I know guys that have gone with mike@fivestartunning and the results are amazing.

Not to compete with Mike, but to speak for other SCT tuners- Mine's NOT a canned tune file and I gained both MPG AND power. I only picked up about 1-2 mpg using the performance tune, but the power difference is insane. 0-60 went from 10.5 to 8.2. Also towing my boat is effortless, you don't have to push the accelerator to make it downshift. Real nice.....

BTW my tuner was Justin at VMP tuning
