Has anyone had a problem installing a remanufactured right side rear cv axle? The old one came out fairly easy but the reman won't go in all the way it sticks out of the differential about an inch. I've tried ramming it in. I pulled it back out and filled the splines and it still does the same thing. I even change the circlip. Please help. Thanks.

Sorry... I never had an issue... Maybe try removing the clip, and reinsert to rule out that the clip is the issue... Other than that.. never had an issue :(

Lay them side by side and check for any differences. Double check the parts number and make sure it is the correct axle.

Found the problem. The vin shows that it has an 8.8 ring gear. So that's the cv axle that I ordered. When you lay them side by side they both look the same . I called 4 Ford dealerships here in las Vegas and they athey all said that it had a 8.8 ring gear. So after banging my head for a few days I decided to count the number of splines on the inboard cv joints. The axle I took out of the expedition had 34 splines and the remain axle had 31 splines. When you look up a reman axle for a 8.8 ring gear it says it has 31 splines. When you look up and axle for a 9.75 ring gear it has 34 splines just like the axle I took out of it. Each Ford parts person I spoke to can't explain why the vin shows that it has a 8.8 ring gear when it don't. My guess is since it was made in 9/2002 that be why it has the bigger ring gear. Thanks for everybody's time. One more question how much rear diff fluid does the 9.75 hold?
