Would I be able to remove certain bulbs temporarily (abs and parking brake) without it causing other issues because the bulbs were removed? TIA 03 EB

my 2001 takes less than an hour what are you problems with the lights and do you understand elect prints The brake light switch can be disconnected in the foot well by the pedal the abs goes thru the data link circuit not sure how that would be affected but it sounds like you may have a bad wheel sensor have you had the abs codes read?

if you do take out the instrument panel take your time and don't force any of the plastic you may need to use a little force just be careful

if you do your own work I would suggest that you get a

Ford workshop manual on DVD. Can be obtained from seller "morpheousking" on e-bay. Cost about $10.00 Much better than Clymer, Haynes or Chilton and also includes wiring diagrams

Don't waste your money on a Clymer, Haynes or Chilton Manual.
It is well worth the $10.00 just make sure you get the DVD for your year as the seller has different DVD's for different years

Thank you, I have not had the codes read. Figure I'd start with speed sensors. Also my parking brake goes all the down with hardly any resistance, thinking maybe it just needs new shoes? I need this temp fix since this is our main vehicle, got a 3 series bmw ssitting ingarage wacting for parts to come in. Thanks for the input

Your welcome Get the codes and find out which sensors is bad and as far as the parking break disconnect the connector near the pedal that way if you replace sensor and get that working you won't have to remove the inst panel twice Here in PA I can pass inspection with the abs light on It has been that way for the last two inspections on my Escape but the brakes should be working if they check them sometimes they do and sometimes they don't but I am sure its different in HI. wasn't required to have inspection when I was there and If they did I don't remember getting one

Try this as this is the cheapest/easiest to do for now..

Bleed (flush) the brakes with new fluid, one of the common cause for ABS aside from bad sensors is air in the lines.. When hydrolytic pressure is low, ABS is disable to prevent damage to the ABS system and the ABS light turns on.
