Interior cabin odour

2022 SPP with 58k miles

Consisnt musty odour after heavy rain fall and humidity.
Already cleaned the evaporator and swapped cabin filter.

Any suggestions? Will poke around for wet carpet, but no discoveries yet.

Yup, same, only 30k miles. Does it even with HVAC off, and sometimes even after washing it. I've traced the smell into driver's side passenger seatbelt opening, I can pull the belt out and actually smell it on the belt, then pop that little cover off, put my nose to it and get a good whiff. All my sunroof drains work well. The air from the HVAC smells fine.
We drove it to NM last summer, and it was dry for the most part. On the interstate, we hit a heavy shower and that smell started immediately. Awhile after drying out (still on the road), it went away. It's baffling.

Is there an easy way to pop that side trim off (either top or bottom) to try and get a better look (or smell) of things in there?

I had same issue, couldn't figure it out but finally did. My roof drains were clear but still had smell issue. The water was being forced in from touch-free car wash. I finally had to totally seal the moon roof seals with a 3/4 inch 3M windshield seal. NO MORE SMELL BUT CANT OPEN MOON ROOF. I really didn't use it anyway. I think it was a good trade-off

I just wish I didn't have the moon roof. Pardon me, I meant to say that I wish I didn't have the Texas window of summer death. That little piece of cloth doesn't seem to do much.

Same, wish the Explorer didn't have it either, massive pains in the ass for sure.
