i had to use my spare for a while and during that time i only got one error message about my tpms. so im wondering what happens if you run all 4 wheels with out sensor in them. the reason im asking is im getting new rims and inm having trouble finding new straps for the sensors.

thanks

It may depend on your year, but early 3rd gen had hub-based TPMS that reported RPM or excess wobble or something to the computer... not the radio-based pressure gauge valves in the wheels

i dont have any sensors. you just get the tpms alert on the dash and occasionally, after you clear it from the dash reset, it will alarm again. this happens like once every few months. i have a 2007. personally, i would like to get sensors put back in so i dont have to worry about it. not long ago, i had a tire go down and i was in the middle of no mans land. my spare was nearly flat also. luckily, i always carry a 12v air compressor, and now i also carry a plug kit. i will put some in when i get new tires soon.

That year doesnt use radio sensors.

Your TPMS hubs may be glitching

In an 07&08 you have TPMS sensors that are attached via band to the rim inside the tire. I purchased 4 OEM units and had mine replaced after a battery died in one. They send the computer a signal every 3-5 minutes reporting pressures, when a battery dies the computer recognizes the signal is gone and a fault will come up in the message center. You will need to have the new sensors trained to the truck after replacement. A lot easier to just have them replaced so you still have the feature and no annoying messages.

Hey guy thanks for all the responses. my expedition is a 2007.
i got lucky and found a supplier that had some universal straps, really long gear clamps.
i was able to switch the sensors from my stock rims over to much newer 2015 king ranch rims.
the only down side is that the new rims didn't come with center caps so i'll be off to the dealer to get a set this week.

thanks

Am I missing something or what, but I swear when we test drove our 17 there was a tire pressure display. And now i cant find it for the life of me. So I'm thinking I was confused on a f-150 maybe we test drove. Looked in the manual seen nothing, but often get side tracked, learning something else. Also tried google, which say it should be in the menu under gauges? So should my truck have this or is it just equipped with the traditional dummy light that comes on usually when it's to late.

I run two sets of wheels from time to time and don't have sensors in either set. I used ForScan to turn off the minder in the BCM. But before I did that I would receive a error message that I could turn off by pressing the reset button above the radio each time I restarted my vehicle. Minder Read (Tire Pressure Monitor Fault) I have a 07 XLT.
