Yeah he got really good at it because like I said he went through some junkyard small blocks. The one time I was riding shotgun with him, he had just grabbed 2nd gear when the throttle stuck WOT. We hurriedly unsnapped the doghouse latches, flipped the lid open, and he yanked the linkage to unstick it. I don’t know why he didn’t just turn the key off, but it was some kind of screaming by the time we got it unstuck. It’s a wonder why she didn’t scatter then. I remember he had a chrome footprint gas peddle and the linkage to the engine was complicated because the pedal was out in front of the engine.We were lucky to not take shrapnel in that deal. Trying to speed shift 3 on the tree into high gear to buy more time before it topped out wasn’t an option.the engine went UP and into the cabin of the van then OUT the side doors?

I changed an engine in a VW bug once
dropped engine down and left it there on ground, picked up the entire car body and moved that leaving the engine sitting there
