I'm 27 and previously had a 2001 Ford Lightning. Truck was way too nice for me. Tired of constantly having to wash it basically every day because its too pretty of a truck to be riding around dirty. So I sold it a few weeks ago and bought me a first gen Expedition which I have always liked.

Anyhow I saw this 2002 Ford Expedition XLT on Ebay a few weeks ago and had to pull the trigger. I knew i wanted a first generation Expedition and i knew i wanted the XLT model. Love the way the rims look and i wanted to get as low mileage as i could find. This one has only 41k Original miles on it. 1 Owner. Car Fax confirms the mileage is accurate. According to the dealer, it was a fire chiefs vehicle. But they all have some great story how the vehicle was never used so we will see. I should have it in by the end of this coming week hopefully. Truck looks absolutely perfect. Regardless, its a 12 year old vehicle so I assume there will be some sort of problems. I researched alot before buying it and the problem with the exploding head gasket or whatever it is exactly is called does scare me since I did not get to test drive it before buying, but i have plenty of money left over from selling the truck so i'm just hoping it doesn't need any major repairs. The dealer explained that everything works on the vehicle, it has zero problems, and it is "absolutely turn-key".

Paid $8,100 for her. I know its alot for such an old vehicle, but I sold my truck for $11 and it was a year older with 50k more miles on it so i am extremely happy.

I would say you got yourself a great deal.
I got my 99 XLT 8 years ago with 97K at a local Ford dealer with a similar back story and I have been pleased with the purchase ever since.

With only 41K, your only worry should be filling the tank, but if you previously had a Lightening you should be familiar with the cost.

Nice If you plan on doing your own work suggest you get a;

Ford workshop manual on DVD. Can be obtained from seller "morpheousking" on e-bay. Cost about $10.00 Much better than Clymer, Haynes or Chilton and also includes wiring diagrams

Don't waste your money on a Clymer, Haynes or Chilton Manual.
It is well worth the $10.00 just make sure you get the DVD for your year as the seller has different DVD's for different years

Congratulations! That one is a beauty. Unbelievable how low the miles are and new it still looks. Out of curiosity, why were they asking $8K for it? Highest I can find is in the $6K from NADA and KBB.

Yeah I don't think i got a steal by any means, but i wanted a first gen Expedition and one with as low miles as i could find and this surely fit the bill for that. And yeah i know those feels about gas mileage with the Lightning. I imagine this will be better on gas for the pure fact that i won't be driving it as hard as a lightning and i won't have to put premium fuel in the tank like the Lightning. But at the end of the day, gas mileage wasn't a deal breaker for me.

Thank you

It was a no reserve auction so it worked itself up to 8k. The carfax report stated that the vehicle was worth 1,300 more than its suggested retail price because of the great condition it is in.

Well, the reality of it is if you are happy with it, the price doesn't matter. Quite frankly, I don't think there is another ''02 Expedition like yours out there so you may have a one of a kind.

When I bought my first Expedition, the '99, I was upgrading from a '96 full sized Bronco. The Expy had about 65K miles on it and was about 4 years old. It did me well and I'd still have it had the '11 not come by at such a great deal. Enjoy yours!

I love that color combo. I like how the red is contrasted with the grays

Due to the icey roads and bad weather it hasn't been shipped yet. I'm hoping they get it shipped out soon.
