I had one on my 01 F-150 and dual exhaust and a hypertech. Gained 2.5 mpg but pulling the trailer was the big deal I didn't drop below 10 mpg. Every one els was around 8 mpg.

How big is your gas tank. My Expy shows almost 400 with all in town driving and it got to 450 ish with highway driving. I have not modified my expy at all. I did sea foam fuel injector cleaning and installed a spectre high flow air filter but thats about it. Now i am hoping to get even better range with the gotts mod i did two weeks ago. 330 seems a little low to me for miles until empty.

I like my spectre air filter. it has held up great so far and it comes clean really easily. I use a K and N recharge kit on it. I would assume the cai by spectre is similar quality. How much did you find that one for out of curiosity?

I am pretty sure all 2003's have 28 gal tanks. I figured out that that tank got14.5 mpg. We just bought it in march this is aboutthe 4th or 5th tank I have put in it, but it did sit since around october on the lot. So it could be working out some of that too I know they had to change the battery the day I got it. I am not easy on the gas peddle either:wink:

Brockncole: Go easy on the gas lol. I am most of the time pretty laid back until I see a puddle or something. Also I screw around alot when it snows lol. VexedEx: Thank you. I think the spectre intake looks nice, I really care more about how it looks then anything. Great reason, isnt it.

Haha ok I think they both would work exactly the same only K&N cost much more~ I will most likely go with the Spectre. Thanks for your input

The Spectre is made with a steel tube that conducts heat much more so than the K&N, which is made of plastic. As your engine compartment heats up, the steel intake tube on the Spectre will also heat up. The K&N is a true cold-air intake, and will result in better performance and more fuel efficiency than the Spectre. While allowing your engine to breathe more easily will certainly result in better performance, the goal of a CAI, as opposed to a high-flow intake, is to reduce overall operating temperatures of your engine, thereby increasing efficiency, not just performance.

Ah thank you learn something new everyday. I thought it was STEEL* but didn't read too much about it just saw it was cheaper....

The air flowing through the tube changing temperature because of the compartment temperature heat transfer is negligible in comparison to even the slightest gap in the open air box setup where the new open filter can pull hot air from that same engine compartment. I've seen some new Kamaros without the new filter sectioned off. In the Mustang world we call that a "hot air intake. lol
I ran 6" flexible pvc tubing from behind the grill up behind the headlight straight into the air box. At 20 mph there is 0 vac in the air box. At 30 there's + 1.5 lbs.
