k&n says every 30k or more often in severe conditions... i clean mine every 15k or every 3 oil changes

I clean mine before winter and before summer, also before and after every big off-road trip..

Every 20K here. About the same mileage that i would put on a regular air filter.

With the kit. Spray it down with soap, let it soak a bit, then wash with water going inside out.

I've also heard of leaving the filter in a pool of cleaner for a bit to really work everything out.

Pretty much. At least that's what I think the instructions say. You can get recharge kits at most auto parts stores.

Also ... be careful with the re-oiling. Very easy to overdo it thus attracting more dirt. Start at the top and do a "barber pole" around the filter giving it time to soak in before applying any more. BTW - I go by visual inspection for when it's time to clean. Hope my .02 helps!
