I bought a key fob off amazon for my 1998 Ford Expedition XLT -- I did the process of 8 times with the ignition and the truck does not even go into programming mode, Is it because I have a door ajar light on my dash or it thinks I have a door open when really they are all closed?

Yup, fix the door ajar problem then you can program the fob.
