I know this is a petty issue, but I have made this modification on all Three Expeditions I have owned and some of you may experience the same annoyance: The Ignition placement in the Cockpit results in a situation where large key sets dangle down such that they are constantly rubbing against your knee: See Photo #1.

My solution involves using JB Weld to attach a small utility hook where I can hang the keys away from my knee.

Pretty simple project and I allow the JB Weld to cure for two hours before use so that gravity does not pull the hook down while the JB Weld is curing. Also you have to cut and sand the plastic wall spear for the hook.

Oh yea, I painted the utility hook matte black. Ironically the product is called "Raptor" Hammer in Drywall anchors - Small Utility Hook. Got them at Home Depot.

A few years back, looking to buy a new to me car, I test drove three. First one was a Cadillac ATS. Keys dangled on my leg. Bugged me the whole test drive, and was the primary reason I said NOPE and moved on to car #2.

Short people problems. :)
Here I am minding my own business scrolling down and taking a swig of beer and then I see your post. You made beer shoot out my nose, so now I have to clean snotty beer off my laptop! Thanks a lot *******.

The only thing I have on my car key is the fob. so I only have the key to that vehicle I'm driving leaving the other car keys at home and my main keys in my pocket or console.

Some people have 50 lbs hanging off their key in the ignition and wonder why they have ignition problems.

If your keys are dangling that far I would suggest redoing your key rings...a lot of ppl have rings connected to rings and etc making them longer... get a key ring big enough that all you need to do is attach one ring for space and put them all on there...I had 15 keys at 1 point and never had this issue because my key rings didn't extend.

Wife's navigator does this and drives me insane. No idea why, it should be identical to the expy unless the seat geometry is just slightly different. We have the same combo of The factory key, fob, and our remote start fob all attached at a central ring. The navigator seems to hang about an inch or so lower and hit my knees when turning or over sudden bumps.

Little things like that drive me nuts about certain cars. It's just like people, a particular sounding voice or laugh and you want to punch them in that hole that makes the sound.

Agree. It is like water torture.

I am not inclined to change my key set up as I have multiple keys that add and subtract depending on need. So this is what works for me. Simple solution.
