Keyless Remote Entry

My remote died for my 1999 expedition. So I figured I could reprogram the extra one we have from the Freestar which is the same model of remote. I was able to get the Expedition in the program mode and program the remote. But it must still have the Freestar code in it. It locks/unlocks both vehicles. Shouldn't it erase the old code? If not, can I do it?

It actually works the other way around. The code stays with the remote. So the issue is that the Freestar has to have the remote code removed from it.

I believe that if you reprogram the Freestar (with the key-on, key-off method) and use the other remote, it should clear out the code from the remote that you want to use with the Expy.
