Has anyone found a tail light assembly or some mod that will bring my wife's new King Ranch out of the 1900s? At nearly $60k it's ridiculous that Ford decided some wiggle lines in the tail lens could fool folks into thinking it had put LEDs in. Or should we have opted for a higher end make, like KIA for crying out loud! :poop:

They are out there on the interweb, at least they are for the 1st gens, so I would imagine the newer ones would have some too. But I do not know the year vehicle so I cannot search for one. What year is it?

Sorry, should have mentioned it's a '13. I'll google for them. I know they were available for her '04. Seem to recall a price around $300. Okay for an older model, but Ford should have had them for at least the last two or three model years. I don't know about the '14s.

There's a ton out there for all 3 gens, check out eBay, Amazon, streetbeatcustoms.com, autoanything.com, andysautosport.com.

Which ever ones you go with cross check the part# on Amazon, they are generally cheaper but just make sure the seller honors the manufacturers warranty. I got my IPCW led tails on Amazon, they retailed @ $300+ and I picked them up for $225 shipped. I had problems with the set I got and had no problems getting a replacement set. Good luck.

Those look good. As Mike said, make sure they offer some type of warranty. Just in case you have some LED's burn out prematurely. Members here have had problems with that but have had new units sent when under warranty I believe.

EDIT: I just re-read Mike's post and he already covered this haha.

I don't understand these things. Black LED taillight? Black? Is that not dark? What's the advantage?

Thanks

Black led tail light is referring to the housing not the led itself. The housing is black, the lens is clear and the led is red, that's what I have on mine.

Static54, I think you are right. I'm going to look into replacing the bulbs with leds. I did that on my '85 F250 a couple years ago and it was not bright enough. Today that might be avoidable.

Ya typically it doesn't work cuz the housing is designed for the incandescent light output whereas LEDs are more focused. But they sure do have nice LEDs these days. Basically if it looked like stock but was led would be nice. Then also swap the third brake light for led bar
