I have read in a few places that the OEM sat radio antenna is compatible with aftermarket sat radio head units but you have to modify the plug for it to work. Specifically, you have to remove some of the plastic around the plug to expose the actual connector.

I removed my stock head unit and noticed that there is only one antenna plug on the back of it which is used for the AM/FM radio. That means that the sat antenna connects to the radio via one of the other harnesses that plugs into the back of the head unit.

So, can anyone tell me where the OEM sat antenna connects to one of the main radio harness plugs? It would be nice to have a little direction before I start "hunting" for it behind the dash.

I don't think you can just plug in a satillite antenna and then have Sirius. I'm pretty sure that there is a tuner box that needs to be plugged in to the harness.

Ask the guys at the Sirius Store (tssradio.com) they know everything.

I plan on getting an add-on XM Receiver for my aftermarket head unit. I would just rather use the OEM antenna and not have another antenna on the roof (I already have one in the back in addition to the OEM one in the front). I will give that website a try.

The satellite radio antenna lead end can be found in the center console.

To get to it you need to carefully pry up the trim around the gear shift, remove the one screw located under the rubber junk tray, and carefully pry up the top trim of the console. The satellite radio antenna cable is a very thin black cable near the front. There is a junction with plastic connectors. separate this junction and remove the plastic clips on the male end.

My XM radio receiver also had a male end, so I had to get a SMB female jack to SMB female jack adapter. I found one on e-bay for $5.

Connect the Ford factory satellite antenna to the XM receiver with the adapter.

I installed a JCV GPS receiver with XM radio, and it works GREAT
