Hi All,
We've owned our 2007 Expedition EL 4X4 Eddie Bauer for 8 years (bought it off an old lady with 13K miles) and used it to tow our boat (sadly now sold off) and two separate travel trailers during that time. As a family of 8 (six children 12 and under), this is one of the few vehicles that can accommodate our family and cargo/tow needs.
The biggest issue has the incessant knocking from the engine that began around 70K miles. Several Ford dealers said they couldn't determine the issue and that it wasn't worth fixing and then proceeded to try and sell us a new one. When we moved to North Idaho we found a good non-Ford mechanic that identified the problem with the cam phasers and fixed that. Now she runs as good as new...well, except for the AC unit that we paid the Ford dealer $1k to fix last summer and it just broke again.
I stumbled across this site and thought it'd be good to join to tap into the wealth of information as the vehicle gets older and things start breaking down. I'm looking forward to checking things out and participating.
