Looking at two expeditions here I got one 2001 eddie bauer 2wd not very well taken care of lots of fender bumps and dents ( driver didn't realize size of truck) up side it only has 111000 miles but the owner does not know if any spark plug or head work has been done. the 2nd one well taken care of 2001 xlt 4x4 both have the 5.4 this xlt has 260k but has cylinder head work done (removed and installed inserts for spark plugs.) drove the xlt it drives great suspension needs some work but overall its pretty good. no real rust to speak of its located in FL so not much rust down here. Any advice on which one is the better deal here both are same price ( trading my current Jetta for one of these).

think you will get some very interesting opinions on this. In the long run it will come down to what you think best fits your needs. Do you need 4x4?, what would be your over all cost to make repairs?, big difference in mileage between the two

4x4 is more of a perk for me being stationed in GA right now however road tripping to Michigan in the winter its a very nice perk. And if this truck last long enough very likely it would become more than just a DD and hauler but would also become an offroad toy (when time allows) my big worry with the Eddie bauer is the lack of knowledge on the spark plug work. ( how much does it usually end up costing to have the heads repaired if I remove them and take them to a shop?

A lot of people have expys with a lot of miles on them, do a search and you will see.. I would take well taken care of over a new car any day, and I do, I have a 2013 mustang that just sits in the drive, while I drive my expedition.. I didn't know much about my expy when I bought it honestly. I looked at the interior and it looked good, exterior looked good... I am just now really getting into the expy and I am noticing that this thing really was takin care of by previous owners... Mine also I believe came from Florida.. I can't tell if the insides of he engine and tranny were takin care of but I can say it runs and drives very smooth... Mine has almost 170k miles and going strong. I plan to drive her till the wheels fall off... So my vote is to go with he one that has been takin care of, and if its more miles, tell the dealership to take some money off the price
