Hey guys, i have a 98 Expy (no air ride). I am wanting to lower it just a few inchs for as cheap as possible. I dont really know where to start. Some people have told me that i can lower the front for nothing with the torrion bars.

first off... its a 4wd right? If its a 2wd you just have to get some lowering springs theres no way around it.. I wouldnt cut the springs thats pretty old school. LMC has some cheap lowering springs.
You'll need new springs for the back anyway if it is 4wd.
(cant believe I'm about to talk about lowering a 4x4, but its your truck)
Now to drop the front with the Tbars follow the door seam between the front and rear door all the way down. get under the truck and you will see a cross member that has a huge bar going from the lower A arm back to the X member. Then you see a bolt right under that bar that looks like somebody didnt tighten on the x member. Take your 18mm socket, 1/2 drive and loosen the bolt (DONT TAKE IT OUT) repeat on the passenger side. Drive it around the block and then check your height out and make sure one side isnt higher than the other. Adjust the Tbars as necessary to level out the truck.

fly boy: thats why I said (i cant believe im about to talk about lowering a 4x4 but its your truck) personally I think its blasphemy to do so but, Its your truck do what you want with it.
Workman, I said if its a 4x4 you can lower the tbars... I thought every body knows 2wds dont have tbars, they got the C springs, you just need 2 more spacers than us, then BAM! you got a lifted expy, go 3" all the way around F**** balljoints theyre not that bad lol

well a lot of figuring out what you will want is what gen if civic or accord cause different engine and tranys will fit in different gens also doinf a 5 pseed swap is a PITA the only reason im doing a 5 speed swap is my accord was my dads and when he past away i got it and the autotragic was dead and he always wanted a 5 speed honda so i am dedicating that car to his memory

idk about that ill run my honda with 1 qrt of oil in it and you cant run any domestic car the same way and see whos last longest lol. true story i bought a civic once god only knows how long it had been since the oil was changed let alone cheeked it i drove it 3 months and changed the oil when i pulled the plug only about a qrt came out takes 4.5 including filter finished change and cheeked every day for the two months and didnt lose a drop point of the story being never even had valve chatter once and i dogged that car. till i did a h22 swap then i really dogged it lol hondas are tough..... but then agan my expy has been just as tough for the most part. but im not about to run it low on oil like that lol. but i've seen hondas live through some rough stuff that ive heard most domestics die from.

i agree freeway my buddy has a 240sx we are building form the ground up and its been a really good car but it like any when run really low on coolant tend to over heat and warp the head lol.
I would also say any car as long as it is maintained at least some will last you a long time. i get defensive when it comes to hondas cause ppl that rice them out with big wings that do nothing and crappy mufflers that just sound like crap goofy lights and stuff that just doesnt mean anything those cars have given hondas a bad name for those of us who really build them. but im not one of those hondas will beat anything out there people i will tip my hat to a built ford or chevy and i love classics. and when i get rich i will have a skyline built to the gills but for now i know i can do hondas for dirt cheap and still get good mpg lol.
