I a 97 Expedition with a 4.6 and have posted before and nothing I have done has helped, My question is can a clogged cat cause a misfire. I have steam rising on the drives side where the carpet is drying and the floor is warm to touch. Is this signs of a clogged cat. Thank for the HELP

Haven't had clogged cats cause a misfire yet, usually the crappy performance and excessive heat at the cat is a sign of failure. Not saying it won't though. We usually run open exhaust as a test to see if the performance changes before spending the big bucks on the cats.

yes, IIRC it's called a three way cat. so there is a pre cat and then the actual cat... same theory applies, if it's clogged it'll be red.

do the open exhaust check to verify
