Missing piece on intake? 99 V8 Expedition

Helping the 16 year old next door and he is trying to fix a coolant leak.
After he removed the intake I am seeing something strange. Everything is telling me either it is the wrong manifold or a part is missing.
O-ring to atmosphere can't be a thing..
I am not clear where the leak is yet but this has me stopped in my tracks.

If it is leaking there it is usually a head gasket

Gotcha! I have a friend that is a parts manager at a Ford dealership looking into the weird bit we found too.

Is it where the engine oil level dip stick goes? it looks to have a tube running down from the marked surface to the bottom of the engine.

Nope. The weird thing is if he puts it together with what he has, it leaves half the port uncovered.

Let me try a different angle. Does anyone here know what that port is for?
Since the other side doesn't have the casting I have know clue!

The kid just sent me a picture of a screwdriver going straight through to open air on the bottom side!
