I have a 99 xlt ford expedition 5.4.
It does not have auto head lights, pedal adjuster, or the gas reader/compass on the roof. Has anyone moded any of these things to your xlt? If so witch one and how? I have the pedel adjuster switch from my old expy I plugged it in to the conecter behind the lights switch but it didn't do anything. (I had a feeling it wasn't)
I would like to have the auto head lights . any ideas?
THANKS

the pedals will need the adjustment motor assy. but as far as that goes, I just move my seat so that I am capable of fully depressing the brake pedal but still a comfortable distance from/to everything else.

at the least the auto headlights are gonna need the relay pack, sensor, and new headlight switch that has the adjuster for that there is an extra connector that is n/c on my switch w/o the autolights. I don't know if there is a software thing to do or not. I too would love to add it to my '97 xlt. the delayed light when the key is off is the most desired part of it for me.

as far as the trip computer I don't think it's worth it, it's going to need the wires and some software as well and it will need the compass if it's not integrated into the unit itself. I didn't see a vacant connector up there when I was looking for a hot connector for my radar detector, so, wiring is going to be an issue. even so, It's not that great of a feature that I would go through the hassle of adding it. I have already gotten a great estimate of how my truck uses her fuel in town and highway to know how many miles I can expect to get and plan my stops around that should I take a long highway trip. just remember to use the last 1/4 as reserve to be sure the fuel pump is covered with fuel as much as possible to prolong life of it and the fuel level sender.

I would request a sticky thread of any known knowledge on how to add the features that are prewired in. I have seen the fog lights done on a f150 but that's all so far. would anyone else agree on this type of thread?

i see that you stuck around after all...soooooooo...i dont know but i will try to give some input to help you...roxy1225 has the wiring diagrams unless you have another source for them...maybe stamp has them as well and can help you out...they're the electrical guru's here...for the fogs since u mentioned that i know there's the "brown wire mod" so u can search here on that one for fogs to come on when headlights do...i would think that if you took the switch assy from a truck that has the auto lights that it would work...maybe a thread on that as well...and i agree on the reader/compass...i dont think it will be worth it...but if you have nothing but time or like the challenge then go for it...

sorry i didnt have exact answers so i hope the little input help where ever it could

If you could locate a donor vehicle to grab the parts from life would be easier. I'll try to look at the diagrams later tonight and see what is necessary to change/update
I have a feeling it will be somewhat involved keeping the factory appearance and wiring.

The junk yard by my house has at least 15 expys there so whatever I will need just let me know.

I would love to have auto head lamps, and adjustable pedels for my wife. Fogs would be a nice extra.
Thanks Stamp11127 that would be grate.

Iminyourchair what sensor would I need for the auto headlight's?
Thanks guys for your replys

I can't find my service dvd right now, just moved houses, but I remember that there is a daylight sensor and a pack of relays for the autolights. you will also need to get the oval dash panel that has the little cutout for the light sensor. I don't know if this is a pre wired feature so you may want to check that the wires the truck equipped with autolights match ones that may be there but n/c in your truck. kinda like how the fog lights wires are pre wired but not used.
