I purchased a 2002 eddie bauer expy. Had all kinds of plans in the works, money sitting in the bank for nittos. lvl kit. Just needed the inspected.

got windshield put in, and brought it to dad for rocker panels. When he was looking at the rust he noticed a small hole in subframe.

upon peeling back carpet and getting a close look. it was determined the whole wheelwell and the floor running outside of the subframe was rusted out.

Decision was made to try and attempt to repair it. Unfortunately upon getting in deeper we found that the front mount by the front of the rear subframe was rusted completely away. According to my father and his friend, it's too far gone to save, any repairs would be costly and wouldn't last. =(

I absolutely loved this truck. didn't even have it for 2 years. =(

My question to this community. Is it better to list parts on the net, or just let the whole truck go to a junkyard. I really wished i hadn't put that 300 dollar windshield in to make it from canada to maine (my fathers). =(

Depends on the shape of the parts and mileage. A good interior will bring more than what the junkyard will give you for the whole car.
Running engine/trans combo's can go for upwards of $1000 at a junkyard down here. It all depends on what the market is where you are at.

The interior is all leather and beautiful. Tan color. No Rips or stains anywhere. The console had been broken from previous owner, but i paid to have it fiberglassed and reupholstered.

Unfortunately the engine and transmission have 283,000 km's on it. Starts well, drives mostly well, seems sometimes there is a slight hiccup going into OD. Motor didn't smoke though.

I'd post pics of the interior and see where it goes. If the tires are in good shape sell them also. Same for the pcm and inst. cluster, pwr window motors etc. Have a fire sale so to speak.
You can also put the smaller stuff on ebay with no reserve and sell for whatever.
Check with a scrap metal recycler in your area and see if they would be interested in it. I would expect at least $200. I sent an Allison 545 truck auto to a recycler and got $45 about 6 months ago. The weight was about 400 lbs.

Yeah, no kidding canadian Expy. I'm sure the guy i bought it from was well aware. this stuff was here the last time it was inspected, but luckily never caught it. The carpet for some reason really hid the damage really well.

Oh and i wanted to thank you for answering questions canadian expy, previously this past year, you answered a couple for me.

As to reading these forums i did. I knew about the rockers, and i read about the front radiator. Nothing i read, mentioned the rear subframe going like this. Oh well C'est la vie. it has completely turned me off from the whole 4x4 thing.

Thankfully the money i had saved to work on this and fix it up, will be going towards a downpayment on a 05+ mustang come springtime. And rest assured i will be going over that with a fine tooth comb and i will be buying it from down south. lol.

I was about to mention something about that. there is a good selection of 1g expeditions for sale here. some parts only or as a whole with bad motor/trans and others that are easily road worthy for another 100k..

Holy moly that makes my heart cry... I have a bad feeling my truck will end up being the same. When I find a replacement I am going to gut it to see if it's worth putting effort into or not.

Sorry to hear of your truck but 1st gens are dirt cheap and you could get another one for next to nothing with good running parts

If you think youre not even going to recover anything by selling it, why not just keep it as a beater and find your next EB?
