I finally got to log 100 miles in the Navigator. 2018 L 4x4 Black Label 3.73 gears
The first thing I'll say is this thing drives NOTHING like my 18 Expedition Max 301A 4x4 tow pack.
My Expedition wallows and sways all over the road and this Navigator is on completely different suspension dampening. When you hit an angled offset this thing eats it up and settles down immediately, whereas the Expedition sways back and forth 3 more annoying times. Even with my rear sway bar added to my Expedition, this Navigator is still hands down better. I'm not certain what all is changed, but obviously Lincoln got it right. The steering ratio on the highway is much faster on the Navigator, so it drives more like a sports car in a sense of the wheel. The expedition takes a ton of turns on the steering to park it, this feels like it takes far less.
ride quality seems about the same as far as bumps. The 3.5HO doesn't shine until you get over 50mph, then it just keeps pulling with its huge torque whereas the normal 3.5 kinda lays down in comparison. The trans on the Lincoln shifts far more often (both in normal mode). I like the Expedition shift patterns much better as it holds gears better and NEVER downshifts on the highway unless its a huge hill. This was downshifting on the highway for some hills that my Expedition never would have.
The interior on the Navigator feels claustrophobic because the center console is enormous and almost too big.
Overall, it drives a LOT better. Is it worth the extra coin to buy them new vs new, absolutely not, but I bought this one right being used and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
I prefer the simplicity of my Expedition, yet I appreciate all the added attention that was given to this Navigator.
