Navigator 98 - what engine do I have?

Good morning,

Please do not lough, but my question is serious.
I know what I should have under the hood - my Nav is 98, my VIN 8th digit is L so I should have V8 Triton 16v, something about 260 PH right ?
Well - so why all my documentation, registration papers, and import from US papers, says that I have 300 PH / 226 kW?? Is so - then it would be Intech V8 32v... So it is either a mistake in paperwork, or the engine has been swapped...

Also - in other threats I was getting advices regarding ie. sensors location (assuming I have Triton) and I couldn't find them, like I was heaving different engine..

So - the only way to tell for sure is to look under the hood, but I can't distinguish them.

So here is the question - how do I know what engine I have for sure? Are there and specific points to look at, so I can tell?

the 4V 5.4 was not put in until 1999.

the 1998 navigators shared the same 2V 5.4 the expedition had. it was rated lower then the 99-up's somewhere around 230hp and i forget the tq.

Yes I know that - but my issue is that all documentation says 226 kW (which is roughly 300 PH) - and VIN says 5.4 2v (L) - so I'm confused. I know that my car left the factory in Michigan with 5.4 2v.. But providing that if the documents are good, that means the engine was swapped with the younger one. But have no evidence. And the only way for me to know is to physically check. That's why I'm asking about any characteristic points, that differs 2v from 4v...

Yes It looks like mine (except for that plastic cover with 5.4 inscription on it - it is missing from my engine). But the air filter and air intake looks like in my Nav. I suppose in 32v there is different intake/filter housing than on this image?
