No, not rubing it in , I did this with all my chipped cars. I do it as part of the deal, I ask how many keys do i get, they say two i ask for a copy and thats the one that gets used.

i had 3...2 regular and a vallet...my wife lost the vallet and my key when they moved...when i was in afghanistan...so i took hers and banded her from driving it...lol

it has to have a transponder in it...ebay any good for that or will local lock smith have those?

yes...i did...got my 2nd key from the dealership and now im going to buy a 3rd key from ebay or lock smith with transponder in it for my 3rd key...might get 2 more

When I was driving my 98, I bought 3 or 4 keys from ebay. The 98s can be programmed with only one original key. I never did get them cut, so I still have them. My 2000 only came with one key also. I guess I need to pay full price to have a second key made, then I can get the others cut and program them myself. I'm hoping I can take one of my blanks to Lowe's and get them to cut it and program it cheaper.

yeah it is...2nd gen doesnt start until 03...3rd is 07

Yes, but 97s and 98s are the only ones that only need one key. Then they changed the system again.
