I bought my 97 Expedition about 2 years ago. The tires were in brand new condition and it ran beautifully, despite it's high miles. It has always been a little rough and it never bothered me...until now. My dad recently had a leg amputated and I am his transportation. He bounces around in it so much and frequently bangs his limb on the glove box. Is there any way I can soften the ride at all?

My husband checked the torsion bars and said they are cranked up. Would loosening them help?

I also noticed that the tire size on the sticker in the door is P255/75/R16SL, but the tires the previous owner put on is LT265/75/R16. Could this be the cause of the stiffness?

We replaced the shocks all the way around with mid grade ones bought at Autozone. Should I go to a better quality shock instead?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Torsion bars cranked up would for sure make the ride rougher, im no mechanic but if you loosen them, do them the exact same each side, to keep them equal, and I'm pretty sure an alignment wouldn't hurt afterwards
