I don't have an Expedition yet.
But I'm looking at an 03 XLT "project" with 178k on the odometer. Inside smells like heavy tobacco use and it has some wrinkles, but the engine runs smooth (and I have some wrinkles as well, though the older I get, the less smooth my running gets). It's got a sprung rear, so I don't have to hassle with bag issues. I'll leave the jokes on that last sentence out of this discussion (it's one way to stay married for a long time, young fellas!)
I copied a bunch of stuff from the thread on what to look for, that information is invaluable.
For sure a left front hub is needed (that humming sound!), maybe both.
And for sure the front needs new ball joints. If I get the truck, I would replace all the ball joints - but I can't seem to find a diagram that would let me pick the parts I need.
Anyone have a list handy of what should be done to properly fix up the front end? Is there a how-to somewhere on the Web? I'd like to assemble a ballpark figure on cost (the work I'll do myself).
Tomorrow a buddy of mine and I will look it over again - he's a lot more knowledgeable about these than I am, his Dad owns one and he's a Ford guy through and through.
Thanks in advance for any advice given!
