Sync 3 doesn’t have a flash card(SD) slot like Sync 2(Older than 2016).

The Non-Nav unit has less storage, and can’t physically run the Maps.

Maps are available for free along with the 3.4 Update from several sources, but most use Cyanlabs.net.

So a bit confused. If the guy screwed with a Non-Nav unit and side loaded the Maps onto a flash drive, then it would have to always be plugged in, and could cause MANY issues with updates in the future.

i know that sir that there is not enough memory space and there is no memory slot (sd card) but he did it to my friend without using the usb all the time need to know what is the internal memory size inside cause then it will be clear cause he installed middle east maps which i think its smaller in size than North Americaerica and Mexico and Europe

A friend found out from his friend at a Ford dealership, that the vehicles come with the navigation, but disabled in programming. This way when you go to the dealer and want to add it, they can install it quickly. So, he investigated further and installed it on his non navigation 2019 Sync 3 Expedition. That prompted me to give it a try.
So, I did my own research for my 2021 Ford Explorer with Sync 3.4 and no navigation. I created and downloaded the condensed 2023 maps, followed the instructions, and created my Thumb drive. I used ForScan to turn on Navigation. After rebooting I got a message that navigation was not able to find any maps. I inserted the Thumb drive; the process started and installed the maps on my vehicle. It took about 20 minutes total to complete. The instructions stated that some minor features are missing, but Navigation is now working flawlessly.
My 2019 Expedition has Navigation, so I just used the full 2023 maps upgrade. That process also took about 20 minutes total and upgraded flawlessly.

IMPORTANT NOTE:
AS ALWAYS IT IS NOT ADVISABLE TO PERFORM ANY FORSCAN UPGRADES, IF YOU ARE NOT FAMILIAR WITH THE PROCESS AND/OR IF YOU FEEL UNCOMFORTABLE IN DOING SO.
EXPERIMENT AT YOUR OWN RISK AS THERE IS ALWAYS THE POSSIBILITY YOU MAY BRICK YOUR MODULE!
