98 Eddie Bauer 5.4 4x4 Need to replace my rear lower trailing arms, they're rusted really bad. Gonna do it myself just wanna find the best deal or best place to order them from. Rock auto has them for like 85$ driver and passenger sides, but no hardware.
Any suggestions on where I should look?

What did you do about the hardware?
Did u have to cut the bolt by the gas tank?
And yes I gotta get those replaced soon but there not as bad.

I cut the bolt by the tank. I am guessing that the axle was attached before the tank went in because there was no way that sucker was coming out.

I put PMT arms in mine but they were like 225 for a set. Still I know they'll be good forever because of their design

I ordered the arms through their website I think. I think I just bought grade 8 bolts that were the same length and thickness. Though for as much as those trailing arms cost, they might have come with them too. It was a while ago so I can't say for sure. A phone call to PMT would answer the question though.

PMT's do come with hardware now and the 3 main differences between those ebay ones and the PMT is Rubber vs Poly bushings, no grease fitting vs grease fitting and steel hardware vs stainless hardware.

My other question would be kind of steel used and wall thickness comparison between the 2.

about $125 difference after shipping, so its your call.

Either way these are both much better than stock.

Use a quality sawzall blade to do the work. I found that a Milwaukee Torch 18 TPI blade handled the job with little difficulty.

My '01 got the PMT replacements. I agree that just about anything after market would be an upgrade over the defective OEM design. I can tell you that the PMT's lined up easily for bolt replacement -very important when you are jacking the ass end of the truck as high as is necessary for this changeout.

Do one side at a time starting with the weakest (worst rotted) trailing arm. Leaving one connected while you work on the other side will prevent axle roll.
