Rebuilding a 5.4L is very easy and cheap. The tricky part is having the time and space to do it. If you have the space to pull an engine, why not just throw some bearings, rings and gaskets at it? You might even get away with not having to do any machine work if everything is still in relatively good order/within spec. I have 213k on my 07 and I wouldn't hesitate to rebuild the engine. Once I finish building my garage hopefully I can help some guys with this kind of thing. It's pretty fun. Like doing puzzles, but for men lol

Agreed...plus a good excuse to buy more tools!

I wrenched on 2 of the 1300 Hayabusa's back in 2000. It was the only bike I've ever ridden that made the ground rumble at idle. Scary fast, I've ridden faster, but still a wild ride. Except for the horrible handling, my 89 VMAX was fun at 6,200 rpm, when the vboost kicked in. It was like a mild setting on a turbo. You needed to be pointed the direction of straight ahead. The Busa's the same, if not more so. Back then I had better health insurance!

If I understand the question correctly, it's a ***** to undo the top bolt by the Starter. I would pull the engine and Trannie together. When putting back a Reman engine, I would then attached the Trannie to the Engine and drop in at an angle. I will fit with a quarter of an inch to spare.
