5100s on my '05 Tacoma when the Frame Replacement recall happened was the best decision ever on that vehicle, aside from purchasing it new. It handled better and rode better in every single category, yes subjectively... But objectively it was just the shocks that were changed. When I was shopping for a '24 Expy, I was actually considering going non CCD and just doing exactly this since a ride/drive in a 2018 SWB with 5100s (not mine) was way better than my 2019 with CCD and my great expeience with my old Tacoma and Bilsteins. Ended up with CCDs on my new '24...

My 2023 Timberline has 30K on it and going to have 5100's and BFG KO3's installed in the next few weeks.
Going to add 1/2" in the front lift and 1" lift in the rear.
Would rather get the better shocks early to improve the ride and my current tires Nokian are getting pretty loud.
Report back after install.
I have had the new shocks for a few hundred miles and really enjoy the firmer ride on the road. Do notice more bumps when driving but corning is so much better and with the lift from setting the front shocks on 2 and the rear on 5 the Timberline looks perfect. In rough off road sections still does well compered to stock suspension. On tires went with 275-70-18 Continental Terrain Contact H/T. The tries are really quite on the expressway and local roads, work great in the wet, and first couple of snow days did very well.
They are a heavy and taller tire so it did reduce my mileage by 1.5 mpg.
Only issue is my dog no longer can jump in the back with added 1.5 " height and had to adjust the headlights.
